Yemen :Houthis vow to strike US ships if America joins Israel's war on Iran
Yemen's Houthi rebels vowed on Saturday to resume attacks on US ships if American forces join Israel's war on Iran. "In the event that the Americans are involved in the attack and aggression against Iran alongside the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target their ships and warships in the Red Sea," the Houthis said in a statement. Last week, Yemeni security sources told The National that the rebels are considering resuming strikes on US targets in the Middle East and intensifying attacks on Israel in support of Iran. US President Donald Trump said last month the Iran-backed Houthis 'capitulated' and that America would stop strikes on the rebels after they agreed to cease attacking ships in the Red Sea. The Houthis are part of the so-called Axis of Resistance, an Iran-led network that includes Hamas in Palestine, Hezbollah in Lebanon and armed groups in Iraq, whose aim is to deter Israel from conducting military action and countering its influence in the region. Many of the groups have fought against Iran's enemies in their respective countries. The groups launched attacks on Israel as part of a support campaign for Hamas and the Palestinian people after the Gaza war broke out on October 7, 2023. But months of fighting with Israel, which holds clear military dominance, have eroded the operational capacity of the axis considerably. Hezbollah was once considered Iran's first line of defence against Israeli attacks, but strikes against the group last year killed its political and military leaders and largely destroyed its arsenal. Lebanese officials have urged Hezbollah not to respond to Israeli attacks on Iran. UAE Delivers Vital Humanitarian Aid to Thousands in Hadhramaut, Eastern Yemen
The United Arab Emirates, through its humanitarian arm—the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC)—has launched a new wave of food aid distribution in Hadhramaut, eastern Yemen, benefiting nearly 15,000 individuals from vulnerable communities. As part of the campaign, the ERC distributed 1,783 food parcels to sanitation and public works employees, with plans to expand the initiative to 2,977 parcels in the coming days. The aid targets low-income families and workers across several districts, including Mukalla, Al-Shihr, Al-Raydah, Qusay'ir, Ghayl Bawazir, and Brom Mayfa'a. The campaign is being carried out in collaboration with the Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, aiming to enhance food security and ease economic hardship in a region grappling with prolonged instability. Hamid Rashid Al Shamsi, ERC's representative in Hadhramaut, emphasized that the initiative reflects the UAE's ongoing commitment to supporting the Yemeni people, particularly amid worsening economic conditions. Local officials and beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the UAE's continued support, highlighting the positive impact on essential workers who often go unrecognized despite their critical role in maintaining public services. The UAE has maintained a long-standing presence in Hadhramaut, delivering aid across sectors such as healthcare, education, shelter, and economic empowerment, reinforcing its role as a key humanitarian partner in Yemen.

Yemen : US Treasury Targets Houthis with Sanctions
The US on Friday said it has taken its single largest sanctions action to date against Yemen's Houthi militias, a key Iranian ally, by imposing sanctions on four people, 12 entities, and two ships that Washington alleges import oil and other goods for the group. Treasury's Deputy Secretary Michael Faulkender said Friday's action 'underscores our commitment to disrupting the Houthis' financial and shipping pipelines that enable their reckless behavior in the Red Sea and the surrounding region.' The Houthis have launched missile and drone attacks against commercial and military ships in the Red Sea corridor as an effort to end Israel's offensive in Gaza. They have also targeted Israel with long-range missiles. Also on Friday, the Trump administration issued fresh Iran-related sanctions, including on two entities based in Hong Kong, and counterterrorism-related sanctions, according to a notice posted to the Treasury Department's website. The sanctions target at least 20 entities, five individuals and three vessels, according to Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control.

DUBAI — A senior United Arab Emirates official urges a quick end to the Iran-Israel war, warning of a 'difficult aftermath' if the conflict is prolonged. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the oil-rich UAE's President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, says the war was 'setting back' the wealthy Gulf region. 'The longer a war takes, the more dangerous it becomes,' he tells journalists in a briefing. 'I think any extended confrontation or war between Israel and Iran will only bring a very difficult aftermath.' 'De-escalation is extremely important,' Gargash says. 'We still feel that there is a path back to negotiations on these issues.' 'This war flies in the face of the regional order the Gulf countries want to build, which is focused on regional prosperity,' Gargash says. 'We feel that this is setting us back, not only us in the UAE, but I would say the region.'
